Linnansaari National Park

Finland

Linnansaari National Park is a national park founded in 1956 in Saimaa . In addition to Linnansaari itself , it includes hundreds of smaller islands and islets in Haukivesi , Rantasalmi , Savonlinna , and Varkaus . The main island has an old croft, the courtyard of which is considered a traditional landscape, and the fields of which are still used for digging to protect old cultural species. Much of the island is a natural cloth forest, and there are also grove-like sections. Saimaa ringed seal occurs in the Linnansaari area . A Finnish breed also nests in the areathe densest stocks of osprey .

Routes

There are marked routes in Linnansaari National Park only in Linnansaari. Linnansaari has three ring routes, which can be formed into several different routes.

Nature trail (Linnonpolku), 2 km

leaving Sammakkoniemi nature first passes over Kamarlahden marina and increases Linnansaaren the south side of the rock. After the rock section, descend to the grove, after which the route turns back. The rest of the journey is mainly in the grove.

Ring Route, 7 km

The counterclockwise route from Sammakkoniemi, which runs around the island, runs through the croft to the Perpulanluhta camping area at the other end of the island. It is about 600 meters from Perpulanluhta to the castle mountain. The route descends from the castle hill near the Linnavuori boat dock, after which it runs for a kilometer in the woods. After the forest section, you climb a rock, after which you descend and cross Linnasaarenlampi. After crossing the pond, the route joins the nature trail, so you can choose whether you want to go on a more rocky or wooded route for the rest of the trip.

Ring Route, 5.5 km from

The second ring route runs mainly with the seven-kilometer route, but deviates from the second route shortly before Perpulanluhta and joins back in Savilahti, from where the distance to Linnavuori pier is half a kilometer. This route does not pass through Linnavuori.
