Wilhelmina Ziekenhuis Assen (WZA) opened its doors in 1907 and it has about 280 beds and 1300 employees. At WZA we pride ourselves on our short lines of communication, our commitment to our patients, and our efficient, safe care. WZA works actively and closely with general practitioners and other care providers in the area. WZA sees about 200,000 patients a year at its outpatient clinic. This is in addition to 24,000 admissions, about 11,700 of which are one-day admissions.

Getting a patient card
To be issued a patient card, go to the reception desk in the central hall of WZA. To be issued a card, you will need identification and proof of Insurance.

Hospitalization
We will call you to inform you of your admission date. There is no need for you to contact the Admission department about the admission date.
Postpone the surgery?
If you have a bad cold right, a fever or an infectious disease shortly before the admission date, please contact the preoperative clinic. The surgery may have to be postponed.
