“Anyone who wants a health-friendly holiday and a pleasant holiday, chooses Narva-Jõesuu, our most beautiful and famous air resort, from all summer resorts. More than 600 furnished cottages for rent, alone, in gardens and in a pine forest. Hydrotherapy. Great beach, Defense Forces orchestra, course hall, amusements, etc. “
Päevaleht wrote this way on June 5, 1932. It sounds almost modern, but there is no orchestra, course hall or much of the building at that time. You can get an overview of holidays, villas and holidaymakers in Narva-Jõesuu by taking a guide from the Narva-Jõesuu Museum of Local Lore.
The Museum of Local Lore is located in a dilapidated cottage, where the family of the writer AH Tammsaare spent the summer in the 1930s and where the writer himself has spent summer days. The museum was established in 1992 and has remained almost unchanged for more than 25 years, offering the most nostalgia to those who came from the Russian-speaking cultural space. The museum is gradually being renewed and is waiting for visitors during the 2020 summer season.
