AREANATejo – Regional Energy and Environment Agency of the North Alentejo and Tejo has the mission of contributing to energy efficiency and better use of endogenous energy resources, developing projects and methods and disseminating the best techniques and procedures with a view to the rational use of energy and of resources and the preservation of the environment, with a view to promoting sustainable local development, specifically, in order to obtain greater energy efficiency and better environmental performance of its associated Municipalities.

In pursuit of these objectives, AREANATejo’s strategic lines of action are:

• Support its associates, economic agents and citizens in the management of energy and resources;
• To characterize the energy-environmental performance of Alto Alentejo and to assess the aptitude for the development of endogenous energy resources;
• Promote the introduction of efficient energy technologies and renewable energy technologies in Alto Alentejo;
• Promote AREANATejo as a partner in promoting energy and environmental efficiency in the sectors with the highest energy consumption, namely: transport, buildings and industry;
• Inform and raise awareness among citizens about the rational use of energy and resources as well as the importance of protecting the environment;
• Monitor the energy and environmental practices of Alto Alentejo.
