Belgian Chocolate Village

Belgium

Belgian Chocolate Village is a chocolate museum in the Brussels municipality of Koekelberg .

In 2005 the municipality of Koekelberg bought part of the old biscuit factory Victoria in De Neckstraat. This biscuit factory was founded at the end of the 19th century by Emile Bossaert who would later become mayor of Koekelberg. In 1908, Victoria opened a chocolate factory across the street. Victoria closed in 1970, and the chocolate factory now houses the Godiva factory.

The museum explains where the cocoa beans come from and how they are processed into chocolate. There is a workshop where the visitor can make his own chocolate flavor under the guidance of professional chocolatiers. In an interactive way one is introduced to the history of Belgian chocolate from the 19th century to the present day. On the first floor, a tasting room has been set up in the offices of the former management. These are typical Horta style.
