Bielawa

Bielawa is a secluded and picturesque land. As a town it is amotive place, both for inhabitants and tourists. Mother-Nature decided to connect two elements here – water and mountains. The Town is located on the height of 280 m.a.s.l. upto 245 m.a.s.l. and its main asset is its location at the foot of the oldest European mountains – the Sowie Mountain. Four main tourist trails run across eight thousand hectares of the Sowie Mountains Landscape Park. In addition, in Bielawa there is a nearly 24-ha water reservoir – the Lake Bielawskie. It is probably the most beautifully located water reservoir in Poland.

t the lake area there are: guarded sandy beach, a pier, an island, a water equipment rental, outdoor swimming pool with a water slide and a playground for children, football pitch, volleyball and basketball courts, a gym and outdoor sandy playground. Nearby there is an access to a hotel and catering.

Bielawa recommends water attractions, but it is also a place for active recreation in the Sowie Mountains. Here, there are nearly 500 kilometers of ski and mountain bike, hiking and Nordic walking trails. The Sowie Mountains are also a paradise for runners and a cross-country and downhill skiers.

When you are visiting Bielawa, please come and see a rope and a canoe routes in the Town Park. You can also visit two
observation towers – the tower of the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (101 meters high) and the other located in the Parkowa Mountain. After an active sightseeing we encourage you to visit an indoor swimming pool “Aquarius”.

Architecture attractions and hiking trails, cross-country skiing trails, a swimming pool and ski lifts in the town itself and in the Sowie Mountains provide an opportunity for family recreation all year round.

Canoe trail in the Town Park

We invite you all not only for walking, but also for sailing in a canoe trail – the one and only canoe route in a town park in the region. Here you can find “the Bridge of Lovers”.

Koci Grzbiet – The Cat’s Spine viewing point

On the steep slope of the ” Cat’s Spine ” ( 651 a.s.l. ) a viewing platform was built in 2011 . Here you can see beautiful skyline of the Dzierżoniowska Valley wit Ślęza Massive in the background and Dark Canyon (Ciemny Jar) and Kalenica on the opposite side On the route you can admire the rich world of flora and fauna.

The Sowie Mountains

The Sowie Mountains are the great place for tourists who like hiking. It is one of the few places where you can see the view of the whole the Sudety Mountains, from the Jaseników Band in the east to the Jzerskie Mountains in the west.

The viewing point in the Góra Parkowa Mountain

The Góra Parkowa Mountain is located at the very heart of the town, with a viewing tower from which you can enjoy a panorama of the town and its surroundings.

There are 3 walking trails leading to the summit; the trails have various degrees of difficulty. On the way are several barbeque and relaxation places. The area is adapted to cycling and walking tourism. A sledge slope and a ski lift (200 m) on the mountain side are open in the winter.

On the other part of Góra Parkowa there is a network of walking and cycling paths running through an area covered with a mixed forest with a predominance of spruce, linden trees and oaks.

The Góra Parkowa Mountain is one of the favorite trails for mountain runners and Nordic walking fans. It is also an ideal place for tourists who want to taste not-long distance mountain trails and walks.

The rope route

The Town Park pulls in inhabitants and tourists with many attractions. One of them is undoubtedly the rope route . It arranged for people who would like to try their hand against obstacles situated several meters above-grand. More than two hundred meter – long rope route is a paradise not only for adults but also for children and youth. Admission to the rope route is free of charge.

The viewing tower of the church

The 101-metre high tower is the third highest historic sacred tower in Poland. 300 stairs lead to its top. There are four observation decks prepared for tourists, with teleoptical equipment and information boards giving the history of the tower and the church. From the tower you can see a panorama of the Góry Sowie mountains, the Wzgórza Bielawskie hills, and even the Masyw Ślęża massif. The tower was adapted to tourist traffic needs in 2007 thanks to funds obtained from the Integrated Operational Programme for the Regional Development of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The modernisation works were praised by the jury of the “MODERNISATION OF THE YEAR 2007” National Competition; the church tower in Bielawa won the main prize in the category: “Sacred buildings”. Admission tickets to the tower are available at the Tourist Information Centre. Here you can get a commemorative stamp documenting the fact that that you were able “to conquer” the viewing tower.
