Biotechnical Faculty

History and development


With roots dating back to 1937, the Biotechnical Faculty carries the longest tradition of agricultural research in Montenegro.

Originating from the former Biotechnical and Agricultural Institute, it has played a key role in the development of modern agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, and environmental sciences in the region.

Established as an agricultural research center, it evolved through decades of scientific progress and institutional growth. In 2008, it became a higher education institution, offering academic programs alongside innovative research. Today, the Faculty is a leading hub for education, research, and sustainable development in agriculture and related fields.

Biotechnical Faculty Today

With a long-standing tradition, extensive experience, and strong institutional resources, the Biotechnical Faculty successfully integrates its three core functions: scientific research, education, and expert consultancy.

Research Excellence :

The Faculty conducts scientific research through 10 specialized research centers covering all areas of agriculture, forestry, and veterinary science. These are supported by modern laboratories, the Lješkopolje Experimental Farm in Podgorica, and the Bar Nursery.
