History of the school
The Church Primary School was established on November 1, 1996 by the Roman Catholic Diocese in Hradec Králové on the initiative of the then Bishop of the Mons. Karel Otčenášek and the late director of the Bishop’s Grammar School, Václav Bláha. The motive was the vision to have a comprehensive system of church education in the diocesan headquarters in Hradec Králové, from pre-school facilities, through primary to secondary school. The first class opened in September 1997 and was located in the building of the Bishop’s Grammar School. Since the school year 2000/2001, our school has been located at Na Hradě 90 and has been a complete primary school with all nine grades for several years now. Since September 2005, it also includes a kindergarten. Since 5 July 2006, it has been called the Primary School and Kindergarten of John Paul II. Based on the decision of the Bishopric of Hradec Králové as the founder of the Bishop’s Grammar School Bohuslav Balbín in Hradec Králové and the Primary School and Kindergarten of John Paul II in Hradec Králové, on 1 July 2009, these schools merged into one school legal entity. The decision to unite Hradec Králové church schools was motivated mainly by the effort to unify the concept of schools under one leadership and also to present church schools in Hradec Králové uniformly, as quality educational institutions that have an important place in the school system.
