Discover Nature’s Wonders and Adventure by the Sea and Mountains at Auto Camp Navis

Hiking

Paklenica National Park offers over 150 km of marked hiking trails, ranging from easy tourist paths to challenging routes that lead to the highest peaks of Velebit (Vaganski vrh at 1,758 m and Sveto brdo at 1,753 m). In the wider Velebit Nature Park area, you’ll also find a number of attractive sites accessible via well-maintained educational trails, such as Mirila, Terezijana, and the famous Premužić Trail. Hiking maps are available at all information points along the Paklenica Riviera.

Climbing

Paklenica National Park is one of the most famous climbing destinations in Europe. The vertical cliffs of the Velika Paklenica canyon, rising over 400 meters high, are located right at the park entrance and only 2 km from the sea. This unique setting makes Paklenica especially popular among climbers with families. It’s not unusual to see babies peacefully sleeping in strollers at the foot of the cliffs, or part of the family relaxing on the beach while others climb. Professional climbing guides can be purchased at the Park Administration office and the entrance reception.

Rafting/Canoeing

Rafting on the wild rapids of the upper course of the Zrmanja River is an unforgettable experience that will leave even the most seasoned adventurers breathless. During the summer months, when the water level is lower, organized kayak and canoe trips are available.

Caving

Step into the underground world of Velebit! Formed of karst, the Velebit Mountain is rich in caves, and expert guides will lead you on unforgettable speleo-adventures. We highly recommend visiting the Manita Peć cave in Paklenica National Park and the Cerovac Caves near the town of Gračac—both protected geomorphological natural monuments, fully equipped for tourist visits. Other caves are also accessible to visitors, offering a fascinating variety of shapes, stalactites, stalagmites, and other remarkable cave formations.

Cycling

For those who love exploring on two wheels, the wider area offers plenty of attractions to discover by bike. While Paklenica National Park is primarily a hiker’s paradise, the nearby region boasts around 40 km of mountain biking trails that wind through characteristic landscapes where sea and mountains meet, passing by fascinating historical and natural sites. It’s also possible to set off by bike to the islands of the Zadar Archipelago, along old roads across Velebit, or to the Vransko Lake Nature Park.

Diving

The underwater world of the Velebit Channel is fascinating to explore, and we highly recommend diving beneath the sea’s surface. The most attractive locations can be found near Starigrad-Paklenica and around the Pag and Maslenica bridges. Expect sloping reefs and walls teeming with fish, colorful sponges, cnidarians, and nudibranchs, as well as octopuses, schools of smaller fish, and large sponge formations. More experienced divers can even venture to the wrecks of an old bridge and a Russian ship from the 1970s.

Paklenica National Park

Due to its unique natural foundation, remarkable geomorphological formations, and magnificent forests, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was declared a national park in 1949.

Paklenica National Park covers an area of 95 km² on the southern slopes of Velebit, beneath its highest peaks, Vaganski vrh (1,757 m) and Sveto brdo (1,753 m). It encompasses the torrent valleys of Velika and Mala Paklenica, with their distinctive canyons carved vertically into the southern slopes of Velebit, as well as the surrounding areas. Within this relatively small area, visitors can experience an exceptional richness of geomorphological phenomena and formations, diverse flora and fauna, stunning landscapes, and pristine nature. The variety of life is influenced by the region’s climatic characteristics as well as its rich and diverse geological history.

The park’s distinctive features include native black pine forests, several types of beech forests, and the deep canyons with streams the torrent valleys of Velika and Mala Paklenica. The wider area of Paklenica National Park is also notable for its rich and diverse cultural heritage.

Zadar – Named Europe’s Best Destination in 2016

Welcome to the city of Zadar, a place with an extraordinary 3,000-year history and invaluable cultural heritage, a city that always offers something new and truly original. Located in the heart of the Adriatic, Zadar is the urban center of Northern Dalmatia, serving as the administrative, economic, cultural, and political hub of the region, with a population of 75,000.

Zadar combines the beauty of its past with all the conveniences modern travelers seek, offering numerous tourist attractions. Whether you are looking for ideal accommodation, authentic gourmet delicacies, cultural landmarks, modern sports facilities, or a diverse program of excursions, Zadar is the perfect destination for relaxation, sports, and entertainment.

Manita Peć Cave

Manita Peć is the only cave in the park that is open and developed for visitors. Its spaciousness and the beauty of its formations have fascinated visitors since 1937, when a path was established for tours. The cave entrance is at an altitude of 570 m, and the hike from the Velika Paklenica parking area to the cave takes about an hour and a half.

The cave is rich in speleothems, or cave formations, which vary in shape and formation process. The most common types you can see in Manita Peć include stalagmites, stalactites, columns (stalagnates), and cave cascades. Some of these formations have been given names inspired by their unique shapes, such as the Helmet, the Organ, and the Witch.
