Corigliano-Rossano is a comune in the province of Cosenza in the Calabria region of southern Italy . It was established on 31 March 2018 by the merger of Corigliano Calabro and Rossano .
HIGLIGHTS
In Corigliano Calabro, you will visit the ancient castle and its tower, both of them used as fortified outposts by the ancient Normans. The little town of Rossano lies between the plain of Sibari and the mountains of Sila. You’ll visit here the diocesan museum where you’ll find preserved the famous Codex purpureus Rossanensis.

So the castle dating back to eleventh century (1083) was used as a fortress and and built by Roberto d’Altavilla, king of the Normans.

Visit of the Diocesan Museum, where is preserved the famous Codex Purpureus Rossanensis, a handwritten Gospel dating back to fourth century a.D, special for its purple pages and declared by UNESCO as a unique art product. Walk through the town of Rossano.
History
Following a referendum held on October 22, 2017, in which the yes to the merger got 61.4% to Corigliano Calabro and 94.1% to Rossano , the Regional Council of Calabria subsequently approved the regional law no. 2 on 2 February 2018, which establishes, starting from March 31, 2018, the new municipality of Corigliano-Rossano.
