The pottery pottery of Csákvár
Its creation in Csákvár can be traced back several centuries. The cultivators of the pottery trade have been living since the beginning of the 1600s and working in the settlement, which was once the outstanding pottery center of Transdanubia. It was a famous guild center in the 19th century , and the wandering bachelors of that time came here from far and wide to learn a craft. The pottery passed from father to son. The children of the potters started to “play” on the disc at the age of 8-9, making small objects. This was the “butler’s time,” which usually lasted 5 years, and the youngsters began to migrate as “boys” to study, utilize, and further develop the knowledge they had acquired along the way in other countries, at other potters, and then take a master’s exam when they returned home.
Although the famous pottery is now somewhat relegated to the background, its role has largely been taken over by the manufacturing industry, the folk art of Csákvár pottery is still flourishing today. Today’s folk craftsmen carry on the heritage of their predecessors, the beautiful folk art motifs, old forms and decorations.
Here, according to the locals, the Pottery House is also located.
