Diekirch is a commune with city status in north-eastern Luxembourg, capital city of the canton Diekirch and the district of Diekirch. The city is situated on the banks of the Sauer river.
Ideally located between the capital and Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland and on the banks of the Sûre, the city of Diekirch is considered the “cradle of tourism” in Luxembourg, thanks to the initiatives of the founder of tourism in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg , Alexis Heck.
