Sights

  • Natural Science Showroom: Since 1991, a material presenting a part of the county’s birdlife has been placed in the teaching center classroom of the Downtown Primary School. In addition to ornithological material, a collection of trophies, eggs, nests, fruits, beetles, and butterflies can also be viewed in the shelves. 
  • The Illyés Gyula Grammar School in Dombóvár was the 35th best in the country in 2003, with the exception of the gymnasiums of the county seats and Budapest.  Many famous people learned here:

  • Gunaras Bath: Gunaras Beach and Spa is a famous spa resort located on sulfur thermal water.
  • István Fekete Museum
  • The Island Forest with old oak trees and a flower park. The statue of the first Hungarian government ministers can be seen in this park. The monumental composition. The work of János Horvay is the only work in the country that depicts the members of the first responsible Hungarian government. In 1959, thanks to the cooperation of the people living here, he found refuge in Dombóvár. Here you can also find the so-called Dombóvár Hoping Tree , a pedunculate oak.

  • Dombóvár Local History Museum
  • Dombó castle ruins: On the border of Dombóvár, on the bank of the Kapos, is the Dombó castle ruins, which got the name Gólyavár from the birds that nest here. According to excavations, a major Renaissance building may have stood here. István Werbőczy wrote his legendary Tripartitum here and in Döbrököz Castle, which served as a measure of law in Hungary until 1848. 
  • Small Citizens Park: Since 2007 , children to whom their parents ask have been planting a named tree.
  • St. Vendel Island: An island on a boating lake in the Gunaras Baths , where lovers can click a padlock on the heart laid out there.
  • Selfie point: A special visual element, which is a photographic background depicting the former atmosphere of Gunarasfürdő .
  • Dr. Otto Habsburg Park: Otto Habsburg – an honorary citizen of Dombóvár – was a member of the European Parliament for many years , he did a lot for the enlargement of the European Union and the accession of Hungary . As the main patron of the pan-European picnic, he has timeless merits in German reunification , the dismantling of the Berlin Wall . A billboard of photos of this activity and his visits to Dombóvár was placed in the park.
  • Seven Continent Park: The small downtown park, created with the help of public workers, showcases the typical plants of the continents on our planet .
  • Bontova fishing lake: A water paradise on the border of Dombóvár, where devotees of the catch and release principle can indulge their passion at a good price.
  • St. Anne’s Chapel and Spring in Szőlőhegy: Mass was already held in the chapel built in 1870 . In 1912 a tower was built for him. In 1920 , Szőlőhegy was annexed to the Parish of Vásárosdombó , because it was administratively part of Kaposszekcső . When Dombóvár received city status, Vineyard was added. In 1992 he joined the Parish of Dombóvár.
  • Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church: Baroque church built in 1725 .

  • Dombóvár Cultural House: Tinódi House: 1973 . opened its doors on April 3, where theatrical performances are also held
