The first data on the provision of medical care in Elva is from 1895. The long history of the hospital dates back to 1945 under the name Elva United City Hospital. Today, the legal form of a hospital is a foundation. Elva Hospital operates on the basis of a local hospital license.

The hospital’s vision is to be a reliable and results-oriented healthcare institution in the area. Our mission is to ensure the provision of health care services to the population within the limits of the activity license. The main goal is to design and develop a successfully functioning medical institution – a health center – offering options for both treatment and health prevention services.

The main service area of ​​Elva Hospital is Lääne-Tartumaa and the city of Elva together with the surrounding rural municipalities, with a total population of approximately 20,000. The services provided in the hospital are:

  • Outpatient care – specialist’s offices in Elva and Tartu
  • Day surgery – orthopedic operations
  • Inpatient care – aftercare beds
  • Nursing care – inpatient and outpatient (home nurse)
  • Rehabilitation service
  • Diagnostics and procedures
