Ercsi

Ercsi is a town in central Hungary, located around 35 km south of Budapest in county Fejér.

Culture, education, sports 

There are two schools and several kindergartens in the settlement. The latter with a special education and music school department. The József Eötvös Cultural House in the city ​​is the most significant cultural institution with a theater and a library of 22,000 volumes.

The City Sports Hall has a handball court, an arena and a swimming pool. Ercsi formed a football team at the beginning of the 20th century , Ercsi Kinizsi SE . The city also has a well-featured handball team, Ercsi SE . The team is a member of NB1 / B. The city is also full of NGOs that strive to make Ercsi even richer, more colorful and of a higher standard. Such is the Ercsi Citizens’ Association,  which follows the legacy of József Eötvös. The website of the Eötvös József Primary School, accessible to everyone, was recently created by the primary school students, also contributing to IT development. The city’s first internet tabloid was also launched to boost the development of cultural life. 

In Ercsi, as part of the development of the IT system, modern websites are being edited, through which tourists visiting the city can get in advance and gain a thorough knowledge of Ercsi.

Points of interest 

Economy 

  • Its agriculture is developed. It is mainly based on cereals , maize , sugar beet and sunflower . The food industry is also typical, until 1998 there was also significant sugar production . Smaller light industrial facilities operate in the established Industrial Park.
  • Its main source of livelihood is service and trade, which is favored by both the city’s high throughput and regional central character.
  • The southern gate of MOL’s oil refinery opens from Ercsi . The area of ​​the refinery also extends from the area of Százhalombatta to the northern part of Ercsi.
