Hunting Museum of Finland is in Riihimäki located in a hunting themed museum . Its purpose is to collect, store, study and present Finnish hunting and wilderness culture as well as Finnish wilderness visits in other parts of the world.

Finnish Hunting Museum’s activities today 

The Hunting Museum is owned by an association called the Finnish Hunting Museum – Finlands Jaktmuseum ry., Whose highest decision-making power is exercised by the association’s meeting. The board of the association plans and develops the museum’s activities, and its members must be representatives of the following communities: the Finnish Game Center , the Finnish Hunters’ Association. , Metsähallitus , Finnish Museum Association . as well as one representative of the museum’s domicile. In 2019, the Hunting Museum had seven permanent employees. Anne Uotila-Laine is the director of the museum. 

The Hunting Museum stores artefacts related to hunting and wildlife culture, game management and research, game animals, hunting associations, hunting weapons, weapon manufacturing, hunting tourism and wildlife art. The museum has its own hunting library , which is available to researchers and others interested in the subject.

The Hunting Museum has its own archive used by researchers , which stores e.g. archives of individuals, hunters’ organizations and hunting clubs related to hunting. In 2019, the museum’s image archive comprised approximately 143,000 photographs used in various publications. The museum conducts research for its own exhibitions and publications, and offers expert services in hunting and weapon history.
