City Hall
The town hall was built around 1660 after the settlement of the town. The arcaded, multi-storey building was originally built as a barracks and barracks for Hajdú, where the city’s military leaders also lived. With the end of the Turkish threat and urban development, the barracks slowly became the seat of the city’s governing bodies. It has been mentioned as a town hall since 1780, and from 1887 as an office of the chief judge.
The town hall, built in the early Baroque style, is currently home to the mayor’s office and institutions. The gable of the locally protected building is decorated with the city’s coat of arms . The building has been renovated several times, but an exact description of these is not yet available. Contemporary photographs suggest that the 20th centuryrenovated around the beginning. It was last renovated in the 1950s and 60s. Probably due to structural damage caused by World War II, it became important to put the building in order. With the renovation, the town hall retained its former character, it underwent significant changes. The entire roof was replaced, the former large chimneys disappeared, and the coat of arms was also restored in a more modest style. The facade of the building was laid with red brick and the plinth was covered with gravel.

Plaques
Opposite the Town Hall is the Ferenc Móra Primary and Art School, whose brick fence was handed over in the summer of 2010. The fence, which was restored to its former condition, was rebuilt by the municipality from public donations and demolished bricks. The fence posts were designed so that a bronze relief could be embedded in each. The first such plaque was inaugurated on 14 June 2010 by Tamás Csige, Mayor and widow Dr. Miklós Kocsis. The work of Lajos Győrfi, sculptor, depicts the former chairman and mayor of the city, Dr. Miklós Kocsis.
Barely half a year later, the fence was enriched with another relief. On December 2, 2010, before lighting another candle in the central Advent wreath , a forum on the last 20 years of Greek Catholic education was held at the Károly Mészáros City Library. To close the forum, the participants marched to the fence and unveiled a memorial plaque to Dr. János B. Papp, former high school principal and honorary citizen of Hajdúdorog. [116]
The third – and so far the last – plaque was made to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the archdiocese of Hajdúdorog . The work of Ádám Győrfi was handed over on December 2, 2012. The relief depicts the cathedral .
Hajdúk fountain
In the center of Hajdúdorog there are two landscaped main squares on both sides of Újfehértói út. Petőfi Square is located in the northern part of the road, at the center of which is the Hajdúk well , inaugurated in 1984 . The ornamental fountain used to be a wheeled fountain. György Fürtös , an applied artist, wanted to express the historical unity of the Hajdú towns and their interdependence, but he also wanted to commemorate the history of Hajdúdorog. The well is therefore decorated with the coats of arms of the seven so-called old Hajdúváros. The coats of arms of the following seven cities can be seen on the well: Hajdúdorog, Hajdúnánás , Hajdúhadház , Hajdúböszörmény , Polgár , Hajdúszoboszló andCustoms spear . Since the inauguration of the Hajdúk well, only the coat of arms of one city has changed. In 1992 , the city of Polgár decided to replace the hairdresser holding the sword in the wake of the city seal of the 1750s.
Because of the seven cities, the artist divided the well into seven different parts, only in the coats of arms. He used clustered pyrogranite to shape the golden brown body of the well. For the decorative elements, the Zsolnay porcelain factory used the building decoration ceramic material, eosin . The oily, greenish eosin elements can be seen around the gargoyles of the well, on the side of the aquifers, and above the crests. The well was renovated in 2009 , and on the occasion of the city day, on June 5, the well was inaugurated by János Csontos, Member of Parliament, delegate of the Ministry of Education and Culture, member of the Northern Great Plain Regional Development Council.
Equestrian statue of István Bocskai
The statue of István Bocskai is not far from the Hajdúk well, closer to the intersection . On the occasion of the four hundredth anniversary of the settlement of the Hajdús, in 2005 almost every old Hajdú town paid homage to the statue of Bocskai. The work of sculptor Lajos Győrfi was unveiled in Hajdúdorog on October 14.
The total height of the equestrian composition is 670 cm, erected on a 110 cm high mound of earth. The pedestal of the statue was carved from red marble from Tardos by Lajos Bácsi and Zoltán Papp, with the coat of arms of Bocskai and a quote from the letter of privilege from Korpona:
The bronze statue itself is 5/4 life size and 290 cm high without a decorative feather. Győrfi’s work was cast by bronze master Imre Varga.
Jacob’s fight with the angel
Opposite the Hajdúk well, on the other side of Újfehértói út, is the park of Vasvári Pál tér. The central element of this park is the work of Imre Varga , Jacob’s struggle with the angel . On the pedestal laid out of basalt cubes stands the bearded, aging figure of Jacob as he grabs the angel trying to ascend with both hands. According to biblical story, Jacob wrestled with the angel all night to give him his blessing. In the battle, Jacob was wounded at his hips, but he managed to keep the angel there until dawn, so the Lord blessed Jacob. The inscription on the statue also quotes from the book of Creation :
In the middle of the square, in the years before the change of regime, stood a monument of Soviet heroes, built in the II. in memory of Soviet soldiers killed in World War II . After the fall of communism, the monument was demolished and a memorial was erected in the city cemetery in honor of the fallen soldiers. At the initiative of the residents of Hajdúdorog, the city erected a new memory in memory of the Hajdúdorog people who fell in the world wars, revolutions and previous battles of the country. In the language of the Old Testament parable, Varga articulated the spiritual greatness of man in the difficult circumstances of wars, the struggle they fought to preserve their national affiliation, faith, and memory of their dead. The biblical quote is about the struggles of the heroic dead.
The statue was inaugurated on October 20, 1992 by the Mayor of Hajdúdorog, Dr. Miklós Kocsis.
Beach and Spa
Most of the towns in Hajdú, including Hajdúdorog, have high-quality medicinal water . The city has known since the end of the 18th century that the depths of the earth hide valuable thermal water. The first public bath, the Szent István Bath, opened in the southern part of the settlement, in 1900 . After its elimination, the thermal water supply of Hajdúdorog remained untapped for many decades.
On March 13, 1976, a thermal spring was found in the northern part of the city, on the site of today’s bath. In 1978, the management of the town made plans to create a beach bath, but when money was scarce, it was not until 1982 that work began. The Hajdúdorog Strandfürdő was inaugurated on June 24, 1983.
The 8.9-hectare landscaped spa has four swimming pools, tennis and football courts, a fishing lake and a yurt-shaped youth hostel handed over in 2011. All of the pools are open, so the spa is only open during the summer season. The training pool, children’s pool and paddling pool are equipped with a water circulator. The water of the spa pool is supplied by a well with a depth of 1,084 meters and a surface of 650 liters of 64.5 C ° thermal water per minute. Due to the high dissolved mineral content of the water, it is primarily suitable for the treatment of arthritis, muscle and nerve pain. On June 26, 2003, after the examination of the thermal water of Hajdúdorog, the National Office of Medical Officers classified it as medicinal water.
