Haute École Louvain in Hainaut

Belgium

The Haute École Louvain en Hainaut ( HELHa ) is a free confessional Haute École.

Types of teachings

For short-type education

Short courses are organized in a single professionalizing cycle. They comprise from 180 to 240 credits which can be acquired respectively in three to four years of study at least and are sanctioned by the academic degree of bachelor. The Haute École currently delivers bachelor’s degrees in around thirty training courses, generally in 3 years, exceptionally in 4 years (midwifery bachelor) and specialization diplomas (mainly in Paramedical).

For long-type education

Long-type courses are generally organized in two cycles: a first 3-year transition cycle comprising 180 credits followed by a second professionalizing cycle of 1 or 2 years comprising respectively 60 or 120 credits. The first three-year cycle leads to the transitional Bachelor degree (mainly devoted to scientific training; however, many laboratories allow students to integrate theoretical knowledge; finally, professional integration activities are planned in the 3 rd year. to give essentially an experience of labor relations and a first practical approach to the future professional.

The second cycle of one or two years leads to the Master’s degree and is devoted to specialization training: the student uses his knowledge to tackle relatively broad practical fields. An internship is planned and allows the subject to be identified from the final work to be presented at the end of the cycle.
