Hénin-Beaumont is a French commune located in the department of Pas-de-Calais in the region of Hauts-de-France .
The town is the result of the merger of Hénin-Liétard and Beaumont-en-Artois in 1971 . Settled in 2018 25 917 inhabitants, is the 6 th city of the department and the 24 th in the region. Hénin-Beaumont is the seat of the Hénin-Carvin agglomeration community which brings together 14 municipalities, or 124,299 inhabitants in 2013, but is directly under the influence of the cities of Lens and Douai , between which it is located, thus belonging to the urban unit of Douai-Lens , agglomeration of 67 municipalities forming the urban center of the urban area of Douai-Lens, of which it is one of the four city-centers.
With seven coal mines on its territory, a few slag heaps and several hundred mining houses, the town retains important traces of its past (cf. contemporary era ).

The church of Saint-Martin, built in the Greco-Byzantine style on the plans of Maurice Boutterin (1882-1970) between 1929 and 1932 , in order to replace the one destroyed by the Germans in 1917 , is classified in its entirety, including the ‘all of the interior decorations and fittings .
Environmental heritage
For a town in the former mining basin of Nord-Pas-de-Calais , the slag heaps are located there. Further south, next to the Noyelles shopping center in Noyelles-Godault , the Bords-des-Eaux lake is the only body of water in the city.
Cultural heritage
The city does not have a museum but a theater and concert hall called L’Escapade , where various activities are also organized (guitar lessons, dance, etc. ), and also a cinema. Built next to the Auchan shopping center in Noyelles-Godault , it was first a Gaumont cinema before becoming a Cinéville with twelve operating rooms .
