The Kortrijk International Rose Garden is a park in the Belgian city of Kortrijk . This city park of one hectare is located in the city district of Hoog Kortrijk in the castle park of the castle ‘t Hooghe. The park borders the President Kennedylaan and the Doorniksesteenweg, opposite the Hogeschool VIVES.
The International Rose Garden was founded in 1959 in the gardens of the castle ‘t Hooghe . The rose garden has a total area of approximately 1 ha and shows visitors the evolution in rose cultivation as well as a collection of different rose varieties. In addition, 100 to 150 new rose creations from European selection houses are planted every year in the experimental garden.
An annual rose inspection will also take place in Kortrijk’s Rose Garden at the end of June. This happens every time after experimental garden specimens have been followed by a permanent and international jury for two years. The jury assessed the appearance of the flower as well as the foliage, the disease resistance and the scent of the shrubs.
