Ippokrateio General Hospital of Thessaloniki is a public hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. The General State Hospital of Thessaloniki “Hippocrateion” is the largest in Greece and Southeast Europe, providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit consists of a 50-bed unit and treats 700-750 premature and critically ill newborns each year. The General Hospital includes 33 clinics and departments, 55 laboratories and 186 out-patient clinics. The existing Neonatal unit operates almost at full capacity and regional demand is very high, emphasizing the need for a second such unit.
