Jánossomorja is a town in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary. It is a connection between the two villages Szentpéter and Szentjános, located close to the Austrian border. Before 1946, those were German settlements with the German names St. Johann (St.John) and St. Peter.

Location
It is located on the northwestern edge of Hungary , 13 kilometers southwest of Mosonmagyaróvár , 5 kilometers from the Austro- Hungarian border. It consists of three once independent settlements, which are now practically merged.
Approach
Its most important road access route is the main road 86 , which can be reached from Mosonmagyaróvár and from the south, from Csorna . However, the main road passes only through the easternmost part of the settlement, Mosonszentpéter, roughly north-south; the other two parts of the settlement, Mosonszentjános and Pusztasomorja , are connected by road 8507 with road 86. Northwest neighbor, Várbaloggal the 8508 main road linking.
Among the domestic railway lines in the small town of Hegyeshalom-Szombathely railway line concerns, which had more stopping point was in the center – – more correctly Mosonszentjános and Moson St. Peter frontier Jánossomorja railway station, between the south of the village outskirt Hansag-Nagyerdő stop , on the southern flank and Hanságliget stop . The current railway timetable only includes the latter.
