Jerne Kindergarten

Denmark

Our framework

We are a small beautiful self-owned private kindergarten, with a standard of a maximum of 50 children aged 2.9 years until the start of school. In addition, we have 82% pedagogically trained staff.

NOTE: Everyday life during the Corona pandemic is organized according to current recommendations from the National Board of Health.

The kindergarten is divided into functions. In everyday life, in addition to group time and when age-appropriate activities are done, the children are together across ages. The children play and do activities and move around the living rooms according to curiosity and interest.

  • We have a workshop where the children have every opportunity to immerse themselves and unfold creatively.
  • We have a cozy room where the children can play in the doll’s corner or at the hospital. In addition, the living room can be built, played, and constructed. We also have fun with rhymes / strips and much more with a focus on the language. The cozy room is used for quiet time in the afternoon.
  • We have the „slide“ where the children can play, tumble, hassle or take a rest.
  • We have a playroom where the children in a small group can play with or without an adult.
  • We have a playroom where the children in a small group can play with or without an adult.
  • We have a kitchen with plenty of space for activities.
  • We have a really nice playground that we use as much as possible.

When the child starts in kindergarten, it becomes associated with a group together with children born in the same year. The child gets a contact educator who follows it until the start of school.

We have 3 groups called the Solar Group, the Star Group and the Moon Group. The children eat every day in their group, hold birthdays, and have group time where we work on different age-appropriate projects.

Everyday life

Annual plan:

Every year we work with a new focus area. In 2021, we have a special focus on „Song, music and movement“. We play and plan based on the plan, where we immerse ourselves in activities with different themes. These are, for example: Theater, song, music, reading, motor skills, play and movement, culture, animals, climate, shapes and colors, science, community, me, and my family, etc. For this we also take our starting point in our curriculum, so we ensure us that all children get the best conditions to develop within all the curriculum themes.

Kl. 6-7.45 Good morning. We receive the children at the front door. The children are gathered until 7.45.

Kl. 7.45. Group time : We have group time every morning, where we talk about the day’s program, date, weather and dress. We sing and talk about what else the children can have on their minds. It is also in group time that we celebrate birthdays.

9 am Breakfast: We eat breakfast that the children bring from home in the group.

KL. 11. Lunch: We eat in groups our packed lunches that we bring from home.

When we have finished our packed lunches, we pay attention to hygiene. We go to the toilet or have a nappy changed, we wash our hands carefully and then the children brush their teeth.

Kl. 12. On the playground: We are out every day, in almost all kinds of weather – even in the morning

Kl. 13.30. Fruit: We eat fruit in groups. The fruit is brought from home.

Kl. 13.45 – 14.15. Quiet time: Every Tuesday to Thursday we have quiet time in the groups. We work monthly with mindfulness / relaxation, children’s yoga, or when we play games where we have to listen.

15:00: The last children gather.

In everyday life, we like to work with many different creative materials. We also work with Ipads, Bobbles, the body, nature and everything that can be fun and exciting to use.

These include regular activities, traditions and events that take place in our kindergarten.

The groups are in the hall for one month at a time. There we have a special focus on strengthening motor skills, personal and social skills.

We work closely with the Conservatory of Music, where we are at times lucky that a group of 4-5 year old children can participate in a student’s musical exam course. The course lasts between 5 and 8 weeks.

Upcoming school children are prepared for preschool the last year they go to kindergarten. Special focus on the children’s transition to school starts on 1 April and until the start of school.

During the group time, the children work with age-appropriate activities such as:

  • Step by step.
  • Free from bullying.
  • Empathy in social relationships

  • Me and my family
