Kristinehamns konstmuseum

It shows both modern and contemporary art of the type that is usually shown in the big cities.
Everything is housed in an old boiler plant, in the former hospital area Marieberg, is Kristinehamn’s art museum with a view of Lake Vänern’s sparkling waters and lovely promenades. The area is located about 3 km northwest of the city center.

The Art Museum has shown exhibitions with greats such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Alvar Alto, where work is mainly done to show art from the current art scene. Because the museum, together with our friends’ association, awards an annual scholarship, there is also room for unestablished artists to show their art.

The museum has an art collection focusing on works created by artists related to the region. The largest part of the collection consists of a donation by the Kristinehamn-born artist Bengt Olson, living in Paris. Olson is known, among other things, for his decorations of public buildings in Paris.

In addition to the exhibitions, the pedagogical work is an important part of the activity. Around each exhibition, a program is created with exhibition introductions, audio guides, guided tours for both school classes and the general public, creative activities for all ages, lectures and courses.

The museum’s shop has an exciting and varied selection of, among other things, handmade jewelry, arts and crafts and graphics with a local connection.
Panncentralen Italian meeting you will find in the southern part of the building with a view of Lake Vänern. Here you get good well-cooked food, where good ingredients and personal service are in focus.
