Lund Art Gallery

Lund Art Gallery is a municipal art gallery in Lund . It mainly shows Swedish and Nordic contemporary art, but every year one or more international exhibitions are also shown.

The building was designed by Klas Anshelm and financed through a donation by Gamla Sparbanken to the city of Lund. As early as 1931, the bank decided to create a foundation to establish a concert hall and art gallery in Lund. On September 21, 1957, the art gallery was inaugurated with its first exhibition, “Swedish contemporary art”.

The building has alternating high and low rooms, with delimited spaces for sculptures and larger pictures and with open balconies.

On 10 December 2015, Lund Municipality’s Culture and Leisure Committee decided to close the art gallery, with the aim of later resuming it in a reconstructed form.
