Maglód

Hungary

Maglód is a town in Pest County, Budapest metropolitan area, Hungary.

  • In the second half of the 20th century , the village started a dynamic development, new houses were built mainly in the holiday and Klenova parts. Today, more than ten thousand people live, most of them working in Budapest . The water, telephone, gas and sewer networks were built in the 1990s , and in recent years many streets have been paved with asphalt.
  • 2007 . on July 1, it received city status.
  • Ethnic composition of the population: 98% Hungarian, 1.5% Slovak, 0.5% other (Gypsy, German, Romanian) 
  • In terms of religion: Catholic 43%, Lutheran 18%, Reformed 13%, other or unknown 26% 
  • 33% of the population have a secondary education and 7.8% have a tertiary education (2001)

Shopping center 

On the border of Maglód, along the intersection of the M0 motorway (exit 48) and road 31, the Auchan shopping center opened in 2009. Then almost immediately, Bauhaus and Decathlon stores opened next to it. This can be reached from Pécel, Gyömrő and of course Maglód by Auchan bus, and from the capital by bus sign 162, which runs on average every half hour.

Festival

The Municipality of Maglód, the Foundation for the Sister Settlements of Maglód, the Maglód Civic Circle, and the Association of Maglód Civic Organizations have been organizing a Hungarian meeting in the Carpathian Basin in the footsteps of our Fathers every year since 2007 . At first, it started as a pig-slaughtering celebration of the Slovak Minority Municipality in Maglód, with guests from across the border. The festival will take place on February 12-14, 2016. It was held for the tenth time between and, and its guest of honor was László Tőkés , Member of the European Parliament.
