Mágocs city ​​in Baranya county , Hegyhát district . The city is located in the northern part of Baranya county, in the immediate vicinity of the Baranya- Tolna county border . The latter has a common railway station with the settlement on the Dombóvár – Bátaszék railway line ; the station is located about 5 kilometers south of Mágocs. The lake system in the northern part of the settlement, as well asDombóvár In the direction of Újdombóvár, the road 65 195 starts from the city, branching off from 6539.

The Méhész stream flows in the northern part of the settlement , the Hajmás stream stretches on the eastern border , and the Hábi canal is located in the south, the tributary water of which is the Mágocsi watercourse .

The inhabitants of the city are predominantly Roman Catholic. The present-day listed church was built between 1800 and 1805 and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary . The altarpiece of the braid-style building, which depicts the meeting of Mary and Elizabeth, was made by Karl Backmayer in 1779 . This image, as well as the altar of St. Anne from the 18th century, came here from the former Dominican church in Pécs . A copy of Cranach’s painting Magdalene with Jesus, kept in Salzburg , was painted by an unknown painter in the early 19th century. The mixed faculty of the local cooperative in 1960 – thanks to its high-quality activities – Zoltán Kodálywith his consent and presence he took the name of the Kodály Mixed Faculty. As the master allowed only two choirs in his life, this gesture was a great honor. There is also a German folk dance ensemble, choir and brass band in the settlement.

Mágocs received city status on July 1, 2009.
