Mezőkovácsháza is a town in Békés County , the center and most populous town of Mezőkovácsháza . It received city rights in 1986 , and since 1969 it has owned the Reformed Blacksmith’s House . It has a thermal spa . The city has long been an important center of its narrower neighborhood, one of the three settlements in the district that is not considered socially, economically and infrastructurally backward, or where unemployment is not a major concern.
The proportion of non-Hungarians is low: according to the 2011 census, only Gypsies and Romanians live here at a rate of more than 1%, only the former have a national self-government.
Tourism
The town has the Amber Bath , which is one of the most important tourist centers in the city. Many guests come from the neighboring settlements to the spa. Parkfürdő is primarily an important tourist destination for German and Slovak tourists camping here. There is no museum in the town, but exhibitions are held every week at the local cultural center, focusing on the history, present and curiosities of the area.

Culture
- The City Kalocsa Róza Cultural Center houses the city’s theater hall as well as several exhibition halls. Among other things, the Local History Collection and the “Life of a House of Culture” work here. Permanent exhibition.
- The theater hall used to be the theater of the local high school. Primary school classes also perform here at the Charity Ball every winter, and members of the primary school Drama Circle also try here.
- The City Library has separate sections for children and adults, all of which offer a wide selection. The director of the library was András Ádám for many decades, who retired in 2015, and she also received city awards. His successor was László Albertus.
- The city has its own music school, which operates as part of the primary school. For a long time it operated in a separate building, that building was the old Party Secretariat, currently housed in the District Office. High school also offers art education of a high standard.
