Monor is a city in Pest County , Monori District . Until 2006, when it became independent, the village of Monorierdő also belonged to it.
Cultural life
The Monori Strázsák Folk Dance Association was named after the Strázsa “mountain”.
Gemini Television: broadcasts in the settlements of telephone district 29 three times a week.
The newspaper of the local government of the settlement is published with the title Strázsa on a monthly basis.
Sights
- Reformed Great Church . Using the foundations of the former church, built in 1630, itwas rebuiltin Baroque style in1702and then expanded in 1773. It received its present form and eclectic style in 1882.
- Roman Catholic church . The church dedicated to the Assumption was built in the classicizing late Baroque style between 1800 and 1806. Part of the church’s furnishings – the pulpit , the benches, the tabernacle – were built in the second half of the 18th century . It was previously surrounded by ecclesiastical institutions (parish, school, nursing home, cantor house), but many of them were demolished during the new town planning or given other functions.
- The Strázsa-hegy cellar row , where 98, architecturally valuable, original XIX. It has survived in its 19th century condition and can be seen as a partially renovated, but still significant wine cellar. The characteristic of the cellars is the so-called. row of gádors (cellar vaults covered with earth).
- The statue of St. John of Nepomuk stands in a small booth on a columnar pedestal. It was built in 1842 and placed next to the Catholic church in 1925.
