Belgium

The land which the Roodebeek park now occupies depended in the 17th and 18th centuries on the Ten Steen farm, formerly located on the Chaussée de Roodebeek (at the level of n ° 65) and which was the property of the Jesuits of Brussels until 1773. In 1879, a farmer from Roodebeek undertook to exploit sand and stones on one of the plots adjoining the current rue de la Charrette. The very steep slopes that can still be observed today in the lower part of the park (between the Municipal Museum and the Prinses Paolaschool) keep the memory of this quarry.
