The Municipality of Dobretići is one of the youngest and smallest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, established in 1998 under the Law on the Formation of New Municipalities in the Federation of BiH and the amendment of inter-entity and inter-cantonal borders.
Dobretići consists of 18 settlements: Brnjići, Bunar, Davidovići, Dobretići, Donji Orašac, Gornji Orašac, Kričići-Jejići, Melina, Mijatovići, Milaševci, Pavlovići, Prisika, Slipčevići, Vitovlje Malo, Vukovići, Zapeče, Zasavica, and Zubovići.
The municipal seat is in the largest settlement, Dobretići, which boasts a rich history and cultural heritage, named after the medieval Bosnian noble family, Dobretić.
