Municipality of Domaljevac-Šamac

The Municipality of Domaljevac (Domaljevac-Šamac) was established in 1998

It is located in the central part of Posavina Canton, between the municipality of Orašje to the east and the municipality of Odžak to the west.

Covering an area of 41.7 km², it has a population of around 7,000 residents living in the settlements of Domaljevac, Bazik, Grebnice, Brvnik, and Tursinovac.

The municipal center, Domaljevac, is also the seat of the legislative authority of Posavina Canton. The municipality lies at an average altitude of 85 meters and is rich in water resources, with a river border of nearly 25 km along neighboring Croatia. In addition to various comparative advantages, such as an excellent geo-transport position (the Bosanski Šamac border crossing is known as the „gateway to Bosnia“), a healthy environment, thermal springs, and the production of healthy food, the municipality has a unique wealth: its valuable, proud, and highly entrepreneurial citizens.

The citizens are the greatest and most valuable asset of Domaljevac Municipality. Their energy and initiative have made Domaljevac recognizable beyond the borders of Posavina Canton and the country itself. A free entrepreneurial spirit, encouraged by the partnership between the private sector and the municipal administration, has turned Domaljevac into a self-sustaining mechanism and a model that many communities aspire to emulate.

Stjepan Piljić

Municipal Mayor
