About the Municipality of Klinča Sela
The Municipality of Klinča Sela is located west of Zagreb, along the main road and railway connecting Zagreb and Karlovac. It covers an area of 77.64 km² and, according to the 2001 census, has a population of 4,927 inhabitants. The municipal center is in the town of Klinča Sela, which gives the municipality its name. Neighboring municipalities include Pisarovina, and nearby cities are Samobor, Jastrebarsko, and Zagreb. Klinča Sela is situated 25 km from Zagreb, 8 km from Jastrebarsko, and 29 km from Karlovac.
The municipality consists of 14 settlements: Beter, Donja Purgarija, Donja Zdenčina, Goli Vrh, Gonjeva, Gornja Purgarija, Gornja Zdenčina, Klinča Selo, Kozlikovo, Kupinec, Novo Selo Okičko, Poljanica Okička, Repišće, and Tržić.
Most of the municipality lies in the spacious Pokuplje lowlands, while a smaller part extends into the eastern slopes of the Plešivica hills, with elongated ridges running north-south down to the lowlands. The municipal boundaries are mostly defined by rivers and streams, except in the north, where the border passes above Poljanica Okićka. The western boundary follows the Gonjevo and Okičnica streams, the eastern boundary follows Okičnica, Botić, and Brebernica, and the southern boundary is marked by the Crna Mlaka ponds and part of the Pisarovac stream.
The municipality features significant elevation differences: the hilly and mountainous areas range from 150 to 738 meters above sea level, while the Pokuplje lowlands range from 109 to 140 meters. The “Old Karlovac Road” can be considered a divider between the hilly/mountainous and lowland areas. The hilly areas are characterized by forest-covered southern slopes of Plešivica, while sunny slopes at 200–400 meters are covered with vineyards and orchards. The lowlands feature arable land, lowland forests, and expansive meadows.
