Prača – Medieval Settlement in Eastern Bosnia
Prača is a village and town located on the Prača River, a left tributary of the Drina, between Sarajevo and Goražde. The first written record dates back to 1244, and it is mentioned in Dubrovnik sources in 1361. In the 14th and 15th centuries, it was one of the most developed Bosnian settlements, known for exporting lead from the Olovo mines.
During the Ottoman period, Prača was the center of a nahija (administrative district), while under Austro-Hungarian rule, the Sarajevo–Višegrad railway passed through the settlement. With Austro-Hungarian influence, Prača developed through the construction of a barracks, school, and post office.
