Museum het Hernhutter Huis

Netherlands

Museum Stichting Het Hernhutter Huis was founded in 2007 by the Broedergemeente and the Zeister Mission Society.

Every year the foundation organized exhibitions at different locations.

The wish was to start its own museum, at its own location in Zeist, with a permanent exhibition about the history of the Moravian Church and missionary work.

This dream came true in 2018. The museum is located at Lageweg 27 in Zeist and has a spacious ground floor at its disposal.

In the garden hall, a permanent exhibition informs visitors about the history of the Hernhutters, their settlement in Zeist, and the missionary work. Two rooms en suite offer space for temporary exhibitions.

The archives of the EBG and the ZZg are kept in Het Utrechts Archief (HUA). Ownership of the individual books is recorded. The doublets have returned to Zeist. Ownership (EBG or ZZg) has also been established.
Agreements have been made with the Utrecht Archives about the completion of the collection in Utrecht and the opening up of the doublets in Zeist.

The collection of Het Hernhutter Huis is spread over several depots. A start has been made on registering and archiving the collection.

Het Hernhutter Huis uses the help of volunteers for maintaining and registering the paper archive as well as for registering the collection.
