National Lifeboat Museum Dorus Rijkers

The National Rescue Museum Dorus Rijkers

The National Rescue Museum Dorus Rijkers was founded on July 10, 1981. The museum has developed from a gathering place of a few passionate volunteers into a high-quality interactive museum that scores high from its visitors. The museum used to be located in the center of Den Helder and moved in 2002 to a former motorcycle workshop at Willemsoord. In 2015, the museum had to donate part to the new theater de Kampanje. After a major renovation in that year, the museum could be renewed.

Organization

The organization of the Rescue Museum consists of a director, three permanent employees and about 70 volunteers. The contributions of these volunteers are indispensable for the functioning of the museum. The director is also a volunteer. The composition of this group of volunteers is diverse. A unique organization that matches a unique museum.

The permanent employees are active in the field of Collection, Education, Finance, Administration, Marketing, Communication and Commercial Activities.
