Norrbotten’s Railway Museum is located at Karlsvikshyttan’s railway station in Karlsvik outside Luleå and provides an insight into the history of railway technology over the past 100 years . The non-profit association Malmbanans Vänner owns and runs the museum.
The museum consists of a collection of buildings, some of which have been moved from other railways in northern Norrland, and a vehicle collection. Vehicle collection is available in two halls and outdoors with a collection of 140 vehicles, most of which are connected to the Ore Line . The museum has three large model railways .
Plans for the museum and the reconstruction of Gammelstad – Karlsvikshyttans Järnväg to Karlsvik started in the early 1980s. The rebuilt track was inaugurated on June 14, 1986 and is operated by the Friends of the Ore Line.
