Brickmaking in Smederevska Palanka has a century-long tradition. IGM “Opeka” was founded in April 1898 as the “Brickworks in Palanka”, established by Stevan Dimić – according to records published in the book “Economic Development of Yugoslavia”, printed in 1924.
After World War II, the brickworks were nationalized and became socially owned.
Throughout its existence, the company has gone through significant stages of development. In 2002, the plant was reconstructed, and the entire production process was automated – from raw material preparation and processing to the unloading and packaging of fired products. In 2003, IGM “Opeka” became privately owned through sale.
Today, IGM “Opeka” is among the most modernly equipped brickworks, specializing in the production of fired clay building materials used in wall and ceiling construction. With the implementation of advanced equipment, energy consumption has been reduced, resulting in lower emissions of harmful substances into the environment.
The production process uses natural raw materials: clay, sand, and water
The primary energy source is natural gas – a high-quality fuel with minimal environmental impact. The final products are completely natural and ecological, contributing to a pleasant indoor climate and healthy living when installed in buildings.

The products are characterized by exceptional quality and meet the requirements of European standards (EN771-1, EN15037-3). Their properties make them an ideal solution for high-quality residential construction. Product quality is ensured through internal factory control and continuous external inspections by IMS Belgrade. The factory production control (FPC) system is certified by CIESSE Bulgaria and IMS Belgrade.
