Parco Nord Milano

Italy

The Park covers an area of about 790 hectares, most of which are occupied by meadows with tree-lined strips, groves, lakes and streams and agricultural areas.

Among the areas of greatest ecological – naturalistic interest, we highlight:

  • wooded areas  for a total of about 100 hectares with trees that have reached good size and high natural renewal, located in the north-eastern sector of the protected area;
  • the GEV Grove , located between the Park headquarters and the Bresso airfield;
  • the system of lakes : wetlands of different sizes located in the various areas of the park. Their names reflect the locality in which they are located (Laghetto Cinisello, Niguarda, Bruzzano, Suzzani, Clerici);
  • the airfield of Bresso known for its large stretches of fallow meadow not accessible to the public;
  • the private park of Villa Manzoni in Cormano, with the presence of centuries-old trees and numerous species of nemoral and faunal flora;
  • the Seveso river , with its riparian vegetation, whose importance is linked to the avifauna, the nemoral flora and the role of ecological corridor for terrestrial species;
  • the Balossa Park : which has become an integral part of the North Milan Park, it is an extensive area still mainly dedicated to agriculture, a resting and breeding area for many migratory birds.
