In the school year 2019-2020, the number of pupils increased to 497 and the number of classes to 17. Only the sixth grade in the year – the graduation year. The school year was significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent government measures in the form of a national quarantine and thus the closure of the school on 11 March 2020. Since then, pupils have been educated remotely. From 15 May, only consultations of the 6th year took place in person. During the Matura exam, written works from languages ​​were omitted, the other parts of it took place in the usual way. Students could not come to school until the end of June for consultations, and only in grades. They were all in school until June 26 for the annual report card.

Further modernization of school buildings continued during the school year. During the main holidays (summer 2019), the gatehouse was renovated, classrooms on the 1st floor were reconstructed, a new deck was installed in the large gym and the interior of the school canteen was completely renovated, including equipment with new furniture. In the spring months, the construction work moved to the chemistry lecture hall and weighing room and other tribal classes.

Of the school events, only the autumn ones took place, such as trips to London and Catalonia.

The Regional Council awarded our student Adam Vavrečka (6th A) for the second time for excellent results in science competitions. A number of subject competitions were canceled due to school closures, only some continued in the online mode. Student Natálie Carbolová (5th C) achieved an excellent result in SOČ, where her professional work took 2nd place in the field of healthcare in the national round. Natálie also received another special award for her work. Michal Stolař and Adam Vavrečka (6th A) took part in the national round of the Geographical Olympiad in Jílové near Prague.

The statistics of the school year say that 231 applicants applied to study in the spring. From the optional graduation subjects, most students again chose the social sciences and biology. Out of the total number of 58 last year’s graduates admitted to study at universities, 29 went to study in Brno.
