Water Supply
The Livno city water supply system, originally built during the Austro-Hungarian era, remains the most important network in the municipality. Over time, it has been expanded and modernized to meet the needs of the population.
The system operates through a combination of pump-gravity and gravity-fed methods and includes a main intake at the Mali Duman spring, four booster stations, and seven reservoirs. It covers the city of Livno, nearby villages, and suburban areas such as Rapovine, Žabljak, and Drinova Međa, while other settlements rely on local sources or cisterns.
Water quality is regularly monitored by authorized institutions in line with national regulations. Due to its natural purity, water from the Duman spring requires only disinfection with gaseous chlorine.
With a 63 km distribution network, the system provides a stable and safe water supply year-round, with minimal disruptions even during dry periods.
Sewerage System
The city of Livno has a separated sewer system, consisting of wastewater (foul) and stormwater networks. A few channels in the city remain combined, carrying both types of water.
The primary recipient for both systems is the Bistrica River, with additional stormwater relief directed into the Brina stream, which also flows into the Bistrica.
The wastewater network includes approximately 14,000 meters of collectors, mostly built from asbestos-cement pipes, with newer sections made of PVC.
The stormwater system consists of asbestos-cement and concrete pipes, along with some masonry-built and open channels (streams). Its total length is about 12,000 meters.
