Sárbogárd

Hungary

Sárbogárd is a town in Fejér county, Hungary. The town is at the intersection of important railroad routes in Hungary: this is where electrified routes from Balaton and Pécs merge with non-electrifed railways from Baja and Szekszárd. A double electrified track runs from Sárbogárd to Budapest allowing MÁV trains to provide quick access to the capital.

Sights

In November 2000 , a monument was erected to commemorate the 1956 revolution . In addition to László Térmeg, a furniture maker and wood carving craftsman, the wooden furniture of János Gaál was furnished in the Sárbogárd farmhouse , at 70 Köztársaság utca , the building was made with wooden structural solutions.

Public sculptures 

There are relatively few public sculptures in Sárbogárd. Mainly people involved here, as well as events affecting Sárbogárd, have public sculptures, such as the monument of Mihály Boross, who spent his last years in Bogárd. The monument erected to him was designed by the stonemason Péter Huszár and its construction was carried out by his company. The work is located at the shopping center bordered by the intersection of Ady Endre út and Attila utca. Another person connected to Sárbogárd, who has a public sculpture in the city, Zsuzsanna Kossuth and Sándor Petőfi . Zsuzsanna Kossuth married Rudolf Meszlényi in 1841 , who was born in Sárbogárd. The woman moved to Sárbogárd and from 1842 to 1848lived in the city between. His public sculpture stands in front of the clinic bearing his name, since 1977 , the work of Eszter Balás . 

The statue erected to Sándor Petőfi stands in the courtyard of the grammar school named after the poet, near the main entrance. The buildings of the grammar school were erected in the park of the castle of the Hadik family. 1841 Photo occurred in this castle Petofi Sandor troupe of available memory is preserved in the schoolyard bust of John Meszlényi frequency, which in 1975 is from the high school courtyard. Meszlényi immortalized the young, 18-year-old Petőfi in his work. 

The work related to the event is the Millennium Memorial Park and the monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars in Sárszentmiklós . The memorial park was inaugurated in 2001 , and the work of stonemason Péter Huszár became one of the defining elements of Sárbogárd’s cityscape. The monument to the heroic dead of the Second World War is located in Sárszentmiklós, belonging to Sárbogárd, in a well-kept park, next to a busy road. The monument also has headstones . 

The town also has a religious public work in the garden of the parish named after Bishop St. Nicholas , the Statue of the Holy Trinity, erected in 1885 by Ferenc Kálmán and his wife Erzsébet Klár. 

Synagogue 

The Sárbogárd Synagogue is located in Bercsényi Street. The former house of prayer is now privately owned, with a clothing store on the ground floor and furniture depots on the first floor. The structure is statically OK, but its condition has deteriorated. Local youths found some of the community board documents and correspondence of the local rabbi in the attic of the synagogue. Municipal Decree 8/2005 (III.30.) On the local architectural regulations of the city mentions the synagogue as a nationally protected building. 

Space house 

The Térmeg-house in 1991 in Laszlo Térmeg developed grandparents’ old farmhouse. The house was built by the staff of the King St. Stephen’s Museum , dr. It was opened by Gyula Fülöp . In one of the rooms there is a gallery, in the middle room there is a folk art shop, in the inner room there is a landscape museum. In the landscape museum we can see professionally restored tools and furniture. The folk art shop sells handicrafts, but revenue is low due to a lack of tourism. 

Country house 

The Sárbogárd country house is located in Tury Miklós Street. There we can get acquainted with the history of Sárbogárd, the life of the local peasantry that once lived, the folk art and customs of the locals. The country house is decorated with furniture from the 19th and early 20th centuries . The country house is no longer functional, the condition of the building is slightly deteriorated, careless. 

Bronze Age Earth Castle (“Crazy Castle”)

The oldest monument of Sárbogárd is the so-called “Crazy Castle”, which is formed by the ramparts of a Bronze Age earthwork and is located northeast of the city. According to an authentic excavation in Fool’s Castle, the earthen castle was built in the second period of Vatya culture . One study explained the existence of the earth castle by defending against the mass grave culture . 

To this day, the untouched, natural loess vegetation can be found in Bolondvár in Sárbogárd , which makes the earthen castle special not only from an archaeological point of view.  The Fool’s Castle and the adjacent valley preserve a piece of the wooded plain.

Bolondvár is one of the largest and best-preserved Bronze Age earthworks in Hungary.  The total length of Fool’s Castle is 160 meters and its maximum width is 105 meters. 

Rétszilasi Lakes Nature Reserve 

The extent of the protected area is approx. 1,500 hectares, of which 820 hectares are fishpond systems, of which 588 hectares are fishponds and 232 hectares are reedbeds. 

The nature conservation area is a bird migration site, providing feeding and resting areas for 80-100 thousand birds during the bird migration period. In addition, many protected bird species are nesting grounds in the Rétszilasi fishponds and breeding grounds for otters .

The Rétszilasi Lakes Nature Reserve belongs to the Danube-Ipoly National Park . The fishpond system consists of 14 larger and several smaller lakes, which were established in the early 19th century. The nature reserve was added to the list of wetlands of international importance in 1997 thanks to the Ramsar Convention . 

The fishponds are easily accessible by road and rail ( Budapest – Dombóvár – Pécs railway line ).

Events 

Sárbogárd Days 

Sárbogárd Days is an annual cultural festival in the city, with a series of sports competitions (football championships, basketball tournaments, handball tournaments, etc.), music programs, cooking competitions and many other cultural programs. In 2012 , the Sárbogárd Days were held for the 21st time.

Carriage competition 

One of the most visited events in the city is the Carriage Race, which takes place every year on the last weekend of April in one of the most beautiful parts of the city, the Youth Park. It is organized by the Sárbogárd Equestrian Association .  The competition can be entered in two categories: obstacle course and hunting. In addition to the competition, a series of programs await visitors. 

Citizens for the City Civil Workshop 

A new highlight in the field of community life is the creation of the “Citizens for the City Civil Workshop”, to which a scandal erupted in January 2008 in connection with the rehabilitation of the city center. This led to an even greater collaboration between the people of Sárbogárd, and from this the Citizens for the City Civil Workshop was born.  It is a success that the Office for Cultural Heritage Protection granted the Sárbogárd synagogue the status of a monument .

It was organized by the KAPOCS Association in Sárbogárd , and there has been no trace of its operation since 2010.

Tourism 

Despite the significant through traffic, the level of tourism is low , its income-generating capacity is insignificant, although it has significant tourist attractions, such as the flora and fauna of the Sárvíz Valley , archeological site (s), horseback riding, fishing and forests provided by Rétszilasi fishponds . hunting opportunities. Ecotourism, active and hobby tourism, and cultural tourism can be favorable tourism sectors for Sárbogárd.

Amadeus Restaurant and Pizzeria 

The Amadeus Restaurant and Pizzeria is located at 200 Ady Endre út. 

Hotel Kovács

Hotel Kovács is an 80-bed hotel located at Ady út 1 .The hotel has a hunting room for 60 people, a summer garden for 250 people, a restaurant for 120 people and two smaller function rooms. The hotel organizes various events. 

Korona Pension and Restaurant 

Korona Panzió és Étterem is a pension with a restaurant located at 204 Köztársaság utca . The pension has eight double rooms with shower and television . The guest house has a patisserie, a restaurant with a hot kitchen, a bakery and a brasserie.
