Sátoraljaújhely

Sátoraljaújhely is a town located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county in northern Hungary along the Slovak border. It is 82 kilometres (51 miles) east from the county capital Miskolc.

It got its name from the nearby Tent Mountains, originally called Saturhalma .

Culture 

Sátoraljaújhely is a culturally significant settlement in the country and in the county. It was also called the “capital of Zemplén” as the seat of Zemplén County.

Among other things, Ferenc Kazinczy lived and worked here as a language innovator and archivist , where Lajos Kossuth began his career and gave his first speech here Prime Minister Gyula Andrássy .

Sátoraljaújhely is still one of the cultural centers of the county and also attractive for tourists. There are several museums, theaters and cinemas here.
