Sotecnisol

Sotecnisol was formed on May 8, 1970 as a Technical Waterproofing Society.

At that time, waterproofing systems were very different from what they are today: the flat roof had residual penetration and the thermal insulation was more limited and less versatile.
Despite its dedication to waterproofing, Sotecnisol began to be requested from the outset to carry out building rehabilitation works, developing partnerships with several condominium management companies.

At that time, the need to rehabilitate buildings – namely the resolution of problems of degradation of the external environment, such as water infiltration, hygrothermal discomfort, condensation and cracking – assumed great importance in the civil construction sector in Portugal.

Thus, Sotecnisol emerged as one of the main companies at national level in this area.

Sotecnisol started by developing its activity in the Lisbon area, later diversifying to Porto, where it opened its first delegation. About thirty years ago, the Algarve delegation was opened in Olhão, and the Coimbra delegation was created approximately twenty years ago.

In 1993, the diversification process began, through the creation of autonomous competence centers:

  • Sotecnisol Roofs & Façades
  • Sotecnisol Materials
  • Sotecnisol Water & Environment
  • Sotecnisol Engineering

Still in the 90’s, we started working in Spain and created two companies:

  • Titsa – the first Sotecnisol associate abroad
  • Sotecnisol España – 100% owned by Sotecnisol

In 2007, two more business areas were created at Sotecnisol:

  • Sotecnisol Coatings
  • Sotecnisol Energy

Since the company was created in 1970, there have been some changes in terms of capital composition, always maintaining great stability in terms of leadership. The initial group of partners opened the company’s capital to a restricted group of employees. At the end of the eighties, the most recent partners divested their positions to the initial ones and the capital structure was once again the initial one, but with different weights.

In 2004, one of the founding partners disposes of its participation, the vast majority of the capital being concentrated in the hands of one of the founding partners. On December 23, 2008, Noteisol SGPS was created, to which the vast majority of holdings were transferred.

In 2011 we started the internationalization process in Africa, first by Angola, then by Mozambique and later we entered Algeria.

Since May 2016, Noteisol SGPS, owned by the Sá Morais Castro family, has held 100% of the capital of Sotecnisol.

At the end of 2017, Sotecnisol undergoes a rebranding that includes the reorganization of its areas in:

  • Sotecnisol Roofs & Façades
  • Sotecnisol Engenharia & Ambiente
  • Sotecnisol Power & Water
  • Sotecnisol Coatings

Sotecnisol Materiais changes its name to Obras360º.
