The Strépy-Thieu boat lift (French: L’ascenseur funiculaire de Strépy-Thieu) lies on a branch of the Canal du Centre in the municipality of Le Rœulx, Hainaut, Belgium.
A giant boat lift 150 meters high which alone redeems a vertical drop of 73.15 meters, a concrete colossus equipped with two independent bins of several tons which carry the boats with strength and tranquility. With the Ronquières Inclined Plane and the Historic Center Canal, the Strépy-Thieu funicular lift is without the slightest possible doubt on the list of hydraulic feats.
The boat lift is promoted as a tourist attraction in its own right by the government of Hainaut. A pedestrian ticket for a one-way ride on the lift costs €5.50.
