Nine hills – Talsu pilskalns (Talsi Hillfort), Ķēniņkalns (King’s Hill), Leču kalns (Leču Hill), Tiguļu Hill, Sauleskalns (Sun Hill), Baznīckalns (Church Hill), Krievragkalns Hill, Vilkmuižas kalns (Wolf Manor Hill), Dzirnavkalns (Mill Hill) – create the original structures and scenery associated only with Talsi.
In Talsi there are Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist and Seventh-day Adventist churches, and all these parishes collaborate when organizing religious events. Talsi is the county’s administrative centre with state and municipal establishments, various businesses and non-governmental organisations. In the past Talsi was a town of merchants; bigger and smaller stores are still operating on the streets of this town. Nowadays various manufacturers have also successfully become a part of the town’s environment.

Virsaiši Waterfall
Virsaiši waterfall was selected as the geological object of 2010. It is located in Courland, Talsi County, the rural territory of Abava, in the tributary of Virbupe River right bank, near the Virsaiši house, from the Stende-Sabile road and the turn to the nursery garden Mazsili.
Virsaiši waterfall is 1.7 metres high and it has formed in a stream-bed across the rocks of upper devon dolomite. The waterfall is particularly vivid in spring and autumn when its width reaches 4 metres. The waterfall was only discovered in 1998, but from 2001 it has state protected geological and geomorphologic nature monument status.
If you complete the whole trail, you will be able to see the shelters of beavers. The length of the trail out-and-back including all the turns is approximately three kilometres. This nature trail is perfect for families with children and for elderly travellers to enjoy a leisurely stroll.
Geology Museum of University of Latvia, North Vidzeme Geopark, Talsi Country Council and Talsi tourism information centre supported the nomination of Virsaiši waterfall as the geological object of 2010, which was organized by Petroglyphs Centre of Latvia.

VAR barefoot path
“VAR pēdu taka” (“VAR barefoot path”) has been formed in the park of Lauciene, and it is a path for feet pampering and pleasure where you walk with bare feet on various different surfaces.
The path has been created in collaboration with sports club “Lauciene” who organizes camps for children and teenager called “VAR”. During the camp 90 children and teenagers formed “VAR barefoot path”, so that the guests and residents of Lauciene can enjoy various different feelings with their feet.

Lake Vilkmuižas
The Vilkmuiža lake is only 1 km long, 200 m wide, 3-5 m deep and it is a considerable keeper of Couronian artifacts. It is known to many archeologists outside Latvia. In 11th – 14th century the lake was a burial place for the ancient Couronians. There was a cult place for cremation on the eastern side of the lake. The dead were cremated together with their weapons, tools and jewelry and the remains were sunk in the lake.

Kupfer family cemetery and chapel
The cemetery and chapel of Kupfer family situated at the roadside of Zvaigžņu iela is an architectural landmark. The neoclasiccal building was built between 1801 and 1806 in a triangle shape with columns decorating its corners. Members of Heinz and Kupfer merchant families are buried in the cemetery. Kupfers used to be one of the richest German families in Talsi. They owned property at Laidzes iela 2, 4, 6, 8, Lielā iela 27-31, Zvaigžņu iela. A tomb in the form of a dried-up tree trunk has been situated next to the chapel in memory of the doctor Karl Ferdinand Kupfer (1766 – 1825) and his spouse Anna Dorothea Kupfer, born Plentzner (1776 – 1830).

Sabile Hillfort
Sabile Hillfort was established on the right-hand slope of the River Abava valley, on a very advantageous site – a headland with natural obstacles offering protection from three sides, the open side being fortified with a ditch and bank.


Sabile Cider
Sabile Cider is made following classic recipes from the Latvian grown apples. It’s a fizzy and light drink that goes perfectly well with the traditional Latvian cuisine. Cider tasting is available.


Creative space “ILLI”
Ilze and Linda are artists who have managed to implement their idea on forming a space for their creative activities. One of the houses in the historical section of the town of Talsi (K. Mīlenbaha 7) bas been turned into a cosy studio named ILLI that is open for everyone who wants to design and create together with the artists. They have already organized workshops for textile and paper printing and puppet theatre with self-made puppets.

Strazde Manor
Strazde Manor, surrounded by a beautiful park, located near the Riga–Ventspils highway. In the manor there are is a youth accommodation, party hall (up to 100 persons) and conference room (up to 20). Special offer for school students in December – “Strazde manor dwarf party”. Manor house dwarfs can be spotted throughout the year by prior arrangement. The group offers up to 35 persons.




Talsi Cultural Centre and Creative Yard
The heart of the old town is Talsi Cultural Centre and the Creative Yard, which was built in 2013. In the yard you can meet craftsmen, photographers, musicians and other artists. Roof terraces and the yard are wonderful places for concerts, farmers’ markets and other events. The visitors have a chance to see craftwork of the local craftsmen and, with a reservation in advance, make a souvenir themselves as well as go on a Creative Yard tour with one of the King’s daughters.
Talsi Cultural Centre and Creative Yard is home of Ķēniņmeitas and the creative residents of Talsi. After reservation in advance, you can get to know the twists and turns of the biggest cultural establishment in the county and acquire a new skill from the leather craftsman “StoneHill”, in the creative room “Patrepe” and in a weaver workshop “Talse”.

Krievragkalns (Russian horn hill)
Krievragkalns (Russian horn hill) is located in Jauntalsi (New Talsi). It carries its name thanks to the fact that in the end-nineteenth century an Orthodox church and school was built on the land owned by Talsi Crown.
