Tanhuvaara Sports College is a sports and education center located in Savonlinna on the shores of Lake Suurijärvi . The college is managed by the Tanhuvaara Foundation and provides vocational training in the field of sports. In terms of competitive sports, Tanhuvaara has focused on athletics, floorball, ice sports and rifle and pistol shooting. In athletics, Tanhuvaara acts as a regional training center.

Current operating 

Tanhuvaara’s activities are aimed at both sports enthusiasts and professionals. The center has an athletics field, an indoor training hall, a ball hall, an indoor swimming pool and an ice rink, indoor shooting ranges and several outdoor trails.

At the Sports College, you can complete a bachelor’s degree in physical education (120 cr, sports counselors, a secondary vocational bachelor’s degree) and a vocational degree in physical education, either in the field of adult sports or in the field of sports and program services. 

You can also complete instructor degrees in sports associations. In addition to vocational training, shorter courses and one- or two-day well-being days are organized at Tanhuvaara. This is supported by Tanhuvaara’s restaurant, meeting, accommodation and other services.

Sports Academy 

The Southern Savonia Sports Academy is a provincial co-operation network managed and coordinated by Tanhuvaara Sports College, which develops and provides services for “comprehensive integration and balancing of study and competitive sports”.
