The mansion

The Blaskovich Museum in Tápiószele (actually a Public Collection) is the only mansion museum in the country that survived World War II. The equipment, art treasures and personal objects bring to life the rural common life of the twenties and thirties and forties. János and György Blaskovich were art collectors, archaeologists and literary masters and were known as passionate hunters (however, this was only inspired by the proximity of nature and the love of noble savages, not by „gentleman’s fashion“). The horse was Tápiószentmárton family’s estate, is derived from Kincsem , the unbeatable racehorse.

The local people worked in the mansion in Szelei, they also cultivated the 200-hectare estate in the areas around the village. The cook, maid and cook lived in a separate part of the mansion. The brothers have traditionally had a good relationship with the villagers, both of whom enjoyed public respect. In addition to preserving the mansion, their main merit is their leading role in the public culture of Szele.

The Center for Plant Diversity

The Plant Diversity Center was established on November 1, 2010 by the Minister of Rural Development as the legal successor to the Institute of Agrobotany, established in 1959. The primary task of the institute is gene conservation.
