Le Bouscat is a commune in the Gironde department in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in southwestern France . It is a suburb of the city of Bordeaux and is adjacent to it on the north side.
Sights
- The Sculpture The Bullfighting of Shelomo Selinger on the location of the old arenas (opened in 1921 ). With 10,500 seats, the arena mainly hosts bullfights , but also musical shows and wrestling . It was closed in 1961 following poor maintenance and the fall of a staircase which caused one death. Although redemptions and attempts to save were made, the arena was demolished in 1970 to build a residence (named Les Arènes).
- The Castel d’Andorte built in 1785 in the current Chêneraie park located between rue Raymond-Lavigne and rue du Président-Kennedy. Listed as a historic monument in 2009.
- The Sainte-Clotilde church occupies the site of an old chapel dating from 1820. It was built between 1852 and 1854 by the architect Durassié in a neo-Romanesque style. It was enlarged by a huge modern lateral construction in 1964 due to the architect Prévot.
- The Parc de l’Ermitage , located near the town hall .
- The Villa Maria Luisa , beautiful mansion in a leafy garden opening by a wrought iron gate, located at 39 avenue de la Liberation. Today it houses a restaurant, “Le Murano”.
- The Jeanne villa , close to the previous house made in 1898 by architect Bertrand Alfred-Duprat , registered historical monument in 2001.
- The Château des Tours , 246 avenue de la Liberation, built in the 1870s for Léon Segol father, owner of the Grands Chais du Médoc, then managed by Léon Segol fils.
- The “Hôpital Suburbain du Bouscat” is a private health establishment with the status of a non – profit association . Founded by Doctor Delaye in 1903 , and intended for needy children, the hospital was recognized as being of public utility in 1923 , and since 1983 has participated in the mission of public hospital service .

- The Horse Festival, in September at the racecourse , with more than 20,000 visitors, since 2015
