Tournaisian house

Belgium

The Folklore Museum or House Tournai held since 1930 a typical building of the xvii th  century , located in a lane adjacent to the main square of Tournai in Belgium .

Scenes of everyday life in town and in the countryside are reconstructed. Folklore, the atmosphere of a past and yet close time shines through a craftsman at work, a choir in a chapel , carnival costumes or even a cabaret.

In the many rooms, which cover a total of more than 1000 m², display cases display objects revealing the habits and customs of previous centuries. On the first floor, a large scale model represents the city of Tournai in 1701 .
